Multimeter Safety and Basic Operating Principles

This course will include 6 hours of hands-on instruction using a Fluke 115 digital multimeter (DMM) and electronic components. Topics covered will include:

•   Measurement Safety Categories
•   Proper DMM Procedures for Safe Use
•   DMM Abbreviations, Symbols and Terminology
•   DMM AC/DC Measurements for Voltage and Amperage
•   Measuring Resistance and Continuity Testing
•   Series and Parallel Resistance Circuits
•   Testing Diodes
•   Capacitor Measurement and Capacitor Testing

The instructor has 8 multimeters for the class to share; therefore, students are encouraged to bring their own multimeters for class use and brand/model comparison.
