Demonstration of Arc-Flash Transfer
and Mitigation Device
Come see a presentation on a new arc-flash transfer and mitigation device. There will be a full-scale unit available as a static tabletop display. The presentation will reveal the integration of the device to existing 480 power distribution systems as well as operational criteria and future applications of this technology. Power System study software will be used to illustrate the arc-flash incident energy mitigation. Other arc-flash incident energy mitigation techniques will be discussed as well.
Bob Burnell, PE, of General Electric is a specification engineer and a certified trainer on Arc Flash and Electrical Safety working from the Brea, California office. Bob started out his career as in industrial electrician working in automation, power generation and the petrochemical industry. After ten years in the field, he returned to school and obtained a BSEE from Cal Poly Pomona in 1998. He was active with the ISA student section at Cal Poly as well as the professional section following graduation. Following a brief tenure with Frito Lay, he joined GE Engineering Services in 1999. Recent activity includes involvement with GE's new product introduction of Arc-Vault along with performing arc-flash studies and safety training.
